An Update: Milo at 3 Months
I can’t believe that my little 6lb 3oz baby is three months old?! What? Everywhere we go, people comment on what a big baby he is and I feel such a sense of pride. Breastfeeding has been the most challenging aspect of motherhood for me, and to know that he has gained so much great weight despite our challenges feels so good. Milo’s second month was a tricky one. We found out that he is allergic to milk protein (after two weeks of inconsolable crying) and has silent reflux. Since then, I’ve been dairy and soy-free, and we finally figured out that baby Prilosec works best for his reflux.
Now, he’s happier than ever and we’re seeing more of his personality every day. He loves smiling and cooing – we have our own little conversations. In the morning when I turn on the lights, he’ll give me a huge grin. It’s the best way to start the day. He’s so curious and loves being out and about so he can watch (and smile) at strangers. His eyes are starting to get lighter and we’re wondering if they’re going to be brown or hazel. Only time will tell!
He’s beginning to engage with toys, and we’ve been spending time on his playmat, in his bouncy chair (this is the way I get to shower!), and he is obsessed with this mobile. But most of all, he loves to be held and still enjoys being in the solly wrap. We spend a lot of time reading, and I’m realizing how much fun it is to re-read books that I loved as a kid.
Car rides have been a bit tricky. He will be fast asleep and wake up as soon as we start driving and scream. The city traffic definitely makes it worse, but thanks to some advice from Laura, I’ve been putting lots of toys in the carseat and may try this carseat toy for more distraction. He loves this baby paper – genius!
His personality is really developing and it makes me so happy to wake up to his smiling face each morning. He has the best toothless grin. He’s been drooling a ton, so I have a feeling a tooth is on its way soon. He is such a little love, and I’m grateful that I get to be his mom. Now that I’ve had three months to get the hang of my new gig, I’m starting to feel more comfortable and confident, too. Can’t wait to see what this next month brings (hopefully continued sleep)!
