The Weekender: October 14-16

It looks like we will be enjoying some beautiful weather this weekend! We are planning to get outside, take some walks, and enjoy a picnic in the park. Here are a few other ideas for your weekend.

Big Dance. This Friday and Saturday evening, Annie-B Parson (known for her work with David Bowie and David Byrne, among others) and Paul Lazar present a series of five short works at the ICA to mark the 25th anniversary of Big Dance Theater. Find out more about the performance here, and read a Q+A with Annie-B Parson here.

Local Spirit. We love to eat local, so why not drink local too! Saturday from 4-7pm, the Local Craft Spirit Festival brings more than 20 local distillers and brewers together in Cambridge. Tickets are $35-50. Find out more on the event website.

Boston Book Fair. Copley Square is the place to be for bookworms this weekend. With one session on Friday night and many to choose from on Saturday, the Boston Book Fair has something interesting for everyone, whether poetry, non-fiction, or children’s literature are the faves on your shelf. See the complete schedule here.

Fruits of the Season. This looks like a perfect weekend for apple picking and pumpkin selecting! Apples never taste better than when they are right off the tree and you’ve been traipsing around an orchard in the fresh air. Such a delight! These are some of our favorite orchards — some may be nearing the end of their apple picking season, so it would be a good idea to call ahead.

Do you have an upcoming event that you’d like to see listed on The Weekender? To be considered, send us a note at info@thebostondaybook.com. Have a wonderful weekend!
