Embrace the Gray: Rainy Day Activities
Somehow we find ourselves in late October. This season always passes so quickly, and as much as I’m looking forward to the holidays (so exciting to start traditions with a new baby!), I’m trying to hang on to the days before they pass by. I’m sure we’ll have our share of gray, rainy days and instead of hunkering down inside (although that can be fun somedays, too!), I’m sharing a few of my favorite activities that make leaving the house on a wet day much more appealing. Plus, there’s always the promise of afternoon wine…
Savoring a warm cup. Drinking coffee is often an ends to a mean. On a cold and rainy day, I often find myself craving a hot cocoa or a delicious chai (my favorite is from Caffe Nero). It feels a little indulgent to order something other than coffee. I try to meditate for a moment and love the way the warm steam feels on my face.
Wander the halls. There’s no better time to visit one of the city’s museums than on a dreary day. We especially love the Museum of Fine Arts (they also have a wonderful film program — and a great restaurant for a glass of wine after your visit), Harvard Art Museums, and the Institute of Contemporary Art. I also love the Museum of Science — so fun to visit the Planetarium.
Go with the flow. I love yoga, and I have an extra soft spot for the chest openers now that I’m constantly carrying around a 16 lb. baby. Visit one of our favorite studios (Radiant Yoga, Exhale Back Bay, and South Boston Yoga) on a gray day for a little zen.
What are some ways you enjoy spending a rainy day?
