The Weekender: June 9-11

Happy Friday! It looks like the warm weather is finally on its way, and we are looking forward to getting outside this weekend. Hope you have a wonderful few days!

A Morning Run and Meditation. On Saturday, the Mandarin Oriental hotel is offering free activities as part of Global Wellness Day. A two-mile group run/walk around Boston Common will jump start the morning at 9:00 am, followed by a calming 45-minute meditation class on the hotel’s Arcade Level at 10:30 am. Guests are invited to attend one or both sessions — reservations are required and can be made by contacting The Spa at (617)-535-8820 or mobos-spa@mohg.com.

Pride Month. The pride parade is this Saturday, and there are lots of events this month. Tonight’s Paint for Peace event at Liquid Art House features 20 body painters and other performers creating images of peace and love. The event is free and open to the public from 7-11pm.

Brookline Porchfest. Party on the porches! Saturday is Brookline’s Porchfest, with music from noon-6pm. Check out the map of performances on the event website.

Dragon Boat Fest. Seventy-five teams are registered to compete in this weekend’s boat races. Along with watching the competition, viewers on the Cambridge side can enjoy dance, music, and Asian food.

Hyper-local Craft Brewfest. Local breweries, cideries, and other drink makers take over the Armory in Somerville this weekend. Love seeing so many local options, and a cool, crisp beer or cider sounds like a perfect complement to 90 degree weather! More here. (And if you are at SOWA Market this weekend, check out Saturday’s Vegan Food and Craft Beer Fest nearby.)

Free Summer Events! There are so many amazing summer event series starting up, and most of them are free. We are excited to try some of these free outdoor workouts, and this week free summer concerts from Berklee and the Boston Harbor Hotel begin. Lots to add to the calendar — more here!

Do you have an upcoming event that you’d like to see listed on The Weekender? To be considered, send us a note at info@thebostondaybook.com. Have a wonderful weekend!
