The Weekender: June 30-July 2

boston weekend events

Happy Friday! We are headed up to Vermont to celebrate my brother-in-law’s birthday and the Fourth of July. I’m looking forward to quiet mornings on the front porch, rolling in the grass with Milo, and eating lots of delicious summer foods. Hope you have a great weekend!

A Summer Block Party. Celebrate July 1st and the spirit of America at the Lawn on D block party tomorrow. There will be salsa dancing lessons (how fun!), a rock climbing wall, a DJ, and the usual Lawn on D fun.

Canada Day at the MFA. This weekend marks the 150th anniversary of the Canadian Confederation. Drop by the MFA for Canadian-inspired art-making activities that the whole family will enjoy. Details here! (We recently had a sister date at the museum and it was so much fun. Matisse in the Studio closes July 9, so we’d also recommend checking that out this weekend.)

Outside the b.ox. Many of the city’s creative college art freelancers are participating in this weekend’s gallery exhibition, Outside the b.ox. There will be photography, film, design, and other mixed media on view. There is so much artistic talent in Boston, and we love to celebrate these rising stars.

Harborfest. This weekend, participate in hundreds of activities throughout the city to celebrate Independence Day and our historic city. Highlights include Chowderfest on Sunday, a screening of Yankee Doodle Dandy in the Christopher Columbus Park on Saturday, and Freedom Trail tours. You can see the full weekend events here.

Do you have an upcoming event that you’d like to see listed on The Weekender? To be considered, send us a note at info@thebostondaybook.com. Have a wonderful weekend!
