Patrón the Summer with a Boston-inspired Cocktail at Best Fest
Sipping a cool cocktail on a hot summer day is so refreshing, and we love discovering new recipes to try at home. To celebrate summer, Patrón has reimagined over 30 favorite seasonal cocktails from around the world to include their tequila, and are on the road with a Patrón the Summer campaign, spreading their new take on craft cocktails with a mobile cocktail lab — how fun! The cocktail lab will be right here in Boston on Tuesday evening, 6-10pm, as part of Boston Magazine‘s Best Fest, a night to celebrate award-winning restaurants and bars at City Hall Plaza.
We’ll be there, and we can’t wait to sample food and drinks from Best of Boston winners, plus a special cocktail created by Patrón with Boston in mind. The “Boston Tiki-la Punch” is a twist on the Boston Rum Punch, swapping in tequila for the rum, pineapple juice for the lemonade, and adding lemon oleo-saccharum to keep the refreshing citrus zing.
Lemon oleo-saccharum was new to me, and is absolutely delicious! To make it, use a vegetable peeler to shave the yellow part of the lemon peel, and mix with some cane sugar. With a little time the sugars extract a delicious lemon flavor from the peels, and this syrupy lemon oil is a great addition to the cocktail.
2 oz Patrón Silver
4 oz pineapple juice
.5 oz lemon oleo-saccharum
1 dash Peychaud’s bitters
Combine Patrón Silver, lemon oleo saccharum, pineapple juice and ice into a mixing tin and shake vigorously.
Pour into a rocks glass.
Add bitters to the top of the foam and serve.
