The Weekender: August 11-13

boston events - weekend events

Happy Friday! Matt, Milo and I are headed to Bermuda on Monday for a vacation (so excited!). But, before we go, I have quite the packing list to tackle and we are headed up to Woodstock, Vermont for a quick overnight visit. Hope you have a wonderful few days. August weekends are so lovely! Here are a few ideas if you will be in town:

Boston GreenFest. Head to City Hall Plaza for the 10th annual Boston GreenFest, a celebration of sustainability. The festival will feature 3 live stages of dance and music, an EcoKids Center, a wine and beer garden, and lots more.

Open Newbury Street. We love when Newbury Street transforms into a pedestrian-only zone, and this Sunday from 10am to 6pm, the street will be car-free. There will be live music and games, and of course plenty of window shopping.

Swing Dance at the Navy Yard. Did you know that thousands of women worked at the Charlestown Navy Yard during World War II? This weekend, remember and celebrate their efforts with a music and dance party. On Saturday, grab a partner and enjoy free swing dance lessons from Boston Swing Central and The Easy Winners at 6:30pm. On Sunday, The Moods Swing Orchestra, an all-female band will perform swing music from the 1930’s and beyond. More information and full listing of events here.

Boston Seafood Fest. This Sunday, head to historic Boston Fish Pier for the 6th annual Boston Seafood Fest. The event will take place from 11am to 7pm. A few highlights include a clambake, seafood tastings, educational events (for the whole family), and demonstrations.

Do you have an upcoming event that you’d like to see listed on The Weekender? To be considered, send us a note at info@thebostondaybook.com. Have a wonderful weekend!
