The Weekender: August 25-27

boston events - weekend events

Happy Friday! The summer moves so quickly — it’s hard to believe that it’s already the end of August! I’m looking forward to a weekend at home. Hope you have a great few days, and here are some fun things happening around town:

Nothing But The Fruit Tasting Tour. This Sunday, join me at Central Flea (95 Prospect Street in Cambridge — a 4 min walk from the Central Square T stop), where I’ll be hanging out — and snacking! — with Nothing But The Fruit in their Tasting Room. Details here. Hope to see you there!

Boston Jazz Fest. Listen to live jazz music this Saturday at the 6th annual Boston Jazz Fest. The festival will take place at the Boston Maritime Park in the Seaport. We love listening to live music, especially in beautiful summer weather.

Visit the Islands! We are planning to have a picnic on one of the Boston Harbor Islands this weekend. Taking a boat out to the islands is such a fun summer activity. There are direct ferries going from Boston’s Long Wharf to George’s Island and Spectacle Island. You can see the full schedule here. (Remember that time we went camping on Lovells Island? Such a fun adventure.) If you go, be sure to check the events calendar, as there are always neat things taking place.

A Miniature City at the Boston Athenaeum. Bring the kids to the Boston Athenaeum this weekend as the library is transformed into a miniature city. Colorful tape roads will criss-cross the children’s library. Kids are encouraged to bring their favorite vehicle to drive around. Details here.

Do you have an upcoming event that you’d like to see listed on The Weekender? To be considered, send us a note at info@thebostondaybook.com. Have a wonderful weekend!
