The Weekender: September 22-24

boston events - weekend events

Happy Friday, and first official day of fall! Today is our Dad’s birthday, so we are taking him out for a coffee and a yummy pastry at Flour. On Saturday, we will head up to Portsmouth to celebrate our cousin’s wedding, and on Sunday I head in the opposite direction for a baby shower in Providence. It will be a busy weekend!

What are your plans? If you are in town this weekend, here are a few fun things happening:

FluffFest! It is the 100th anniversary of the invention of fluff! :) Celebrate the gooey stuff at FluffFest this Saturday in Union Square. This annual event features musical performances, a cooking contest, games, and of course plenty of marshmallow treats.

Free Museum Day with Smithsonian. This Saturday, head to a local museum for free thanks to Smithsonian’s annual event, Museum Day Live! Find participating museums here.  Personally, I would visit the Harvard Art Museums, the MFA, or the USS Constitution Museum.

New England Indonesian Festival. Have you been to Indonesia? It is high on my wish list of places to visit. Someday! You don’t have to travel across the globe to experience this Southeast Asian country though, as a festival highlighting Indonesian culture, food, arts, and music comes to Copley this weekend. Details here.

HillFest. This Sunday from 12-4pm, bring your family to Beacon Hill to enjoy kid-friendly activities, live music, and browse the famous used book sale and food from Boston Public Market vendors. There will also be a beer garden at the garden of The Church of the Advent. Details on HillFest here.

Plus, several other neat events:

Allston Village Street Fair
Let’s Talk About Food

Do you have an upcoming event that you’d like to see listed on The Weekender? To be considered, send us a note at info@thebostondaybook.com. Have a wonderful weekend!
