The Weekender: October 6-9

boston events - weekend events

Happy Friday! Matt and I are both working on Monday, but if you have a long weekend, I hope you enjoy that extra day. Either way, have a wonderful few days, and here are several neat events happening around town…

Opening Our Doors. This Monday, enjoy a day of free cultural events with the annual event Opening Our Doors. The event is presented by the Fenway Alliance and features interactive events and crafts, performance, art installations, and more.

40 Years of Coltrane. It’s been 40 years since John Coltrane passed away, and you can celebrate his life and amazing music by attending one of the events this weekend as part of the Friends of John Coltrane Memorial Concert. Details here.

SoWa First Friday. Kick-off the weekend by touring the open studios on Harrison Avenue in the South End as local artists open their spaces to the public. We love finding new artists who inspire us and connecting with those who we already admire. More details here.

Oktoberfest in Harvard Square! We enjoy visiting Cambridge on the weekends, and there are so many reasons to head across the river. On Sunday, there will be beer tents throughout Harvard Square, six stages with live music, and the HONK! bands will march in a parade from Davis Square to Harvard Square. So fun! Details and schedule of events here.

Do you have an upcoming event that you’d like to see listed on The Weekender? To be considered, send us a note at info@thebostondaybook.com. Have a wonderful weekend!
