The Weekender: January 19-21

boston events - weekend events

It looks like we’ll get a little sun this weekend, and the forecast isn’t frigid, so we’re looking forward to getting outside a little. The lights are still on the trees around town, which is very exciting for Serena, so we have to make the most of these twilight strolls with twinkly lights! Hope you have some fun things planned and relax a bit over the next few days. A few ideas:

Celtic Music All Weekend. This weekend is the 15th Boston Celtic Music Festival, with shows at Club Passim (a favorite of ours since we were young teens!), The Sinclair, and The Atrium. Find the full schedule on Club Passim’s website — it includes workshops, participatory sessions, and performances.

A Musical Trip to the Mediterranean. The Revels are so skilled at bringing the traditional music of different cultures to the stage. This Saturday, they are performing music from Sardinia and Corsica in Watertown. We always love their shows. General admission seating is $20. More information on the concert here.

The Liar. In this comedic play a young man in 1643 Paris who cannot tell the truth meets a servant who cannot tell a lie. Love and mistaken identity play a part in this urban romance by Pierre Corneille from the Wellesley Repertory Theatre. See more and find tickets here.

Art Projects in Brookline. The Brookline Center for the Arts opens their doors this Saturday afternoon from 1-3pm for their annual Snowflake Festival. Try your hand at mixed media, drawing, jewelry making, sculpture, and more, plus see work from current students and watch teachers demonstrate their craft.

Do Good. Our friend is involved in this awesome sweepstakes (entries starting at $10) to benefit Boston Children’s Hospital. You can win 2 tickets to the Grammy’s complete with hotel stay, airfare, and attendance at the pre-show gala! Very exciting, and it’s for a great cause. Take a look on the website.

Do you have an upcoming event that you’d like to see listed on The Weekender? To be considered, send us a note at info@thebostondaybook.com. Have a wonderful weekend!
